During the current COVID-19 crisis, Volunteers of America Southwest (VOASW) is working to ensure the nearly 4,000 residents, clients, children, and families in our programs stay safe and well during the COVID-19 crisis.

VOASW is following Government advice and has put together strict measures to protect our staff, clients, and volunteers. We will go above and beyond to provide the support our clients need in this uncertain time.

Because of this devastating and unprecedented situation, VOASW is concerned more now than ever for the well being of those we have been called to serve. We have entrusted to our care, fragile seniors, homeless disabled veterans, and vulnerable families. We are committed to continuing to provide them with compassionate care and services during this crisis.

VOASW currently has no clients or staff, which have been identified with COVID-19 related illnesses.

VOASW COVID-19 Response Actions:
VOASW administrative staff is following the Shelter in Place telework model following the emergency declared by Governor Newsom. The VOASW administrative office remains open with a skeleton staff to facilitate essential business operation functions.

The following VOASW early childhood development programs and charter schools have been shut down per the State of California Department of Education which has indicated that all publically funded schools and preschools programs be closed through June 30, 2020.

All charter school educators and early childhood development educators in the wake of the Shelter in Place declaration are continuing student engagement through the use of online instruction. They are performing twice-weekly check-in, and progress monitoring calls to students and parents. Thus, far students, educators, and parents remain engaged and responsive to this alternative online and coaching instructional approach to student learning.
The essential residential care facilities of Troy and Luhman Centers for Supportive Living for the mentally ill and Hawley Veterans Residential Center all remain open and are being staffed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The staff has been equipped with personal protective equipment, and residents have been provided with sanitizing supplies.
